Fatal error is an error which causes a program to abort – and may return the user to the operating system and data that the program was processing may be lost.

A fatal error occurs typically in any of these cases:

  • An illegal instruction has been attempted
  • Invalid data or code has been accessed
  • The privilege level of an operation is invalid
  • A program attempts to divide by zero.

One of them can be Error 1603: Fatal Error During Installation

When running an installation, you receive the following error message:

“Error 1603: Fatal Error During Installation”

Or you may get the following error:

“Error 1603: General Windows Installer engine error. Increase DiskSpace requirement in Setup.ini and try again.”
