When the computer is started, the hardware run an automatically test for errors on the components. This process is called POST(Power-On Self Test). When the test is running, if errors are encountered, these errors are expressed through a series of audio beep links or display a code on the screen. With this code you can determine what part of the system has problems and you can start work on a solution.

1 audio beep – Everything is OK

2, 3 or 4 short audio beep - This problem can be solved only to open up your computer and pull out the RAM chips. It’s very important that the RAM chips to have the same speed and type, because in time it’s possible that this differences of the speed and type to affect your computer.

5 short audio beep
– Tthe motherboard have problem

6 short audio beep
- The A20 chip on the motherboard doesn’t work. Try to use another keyboard, and if the problem occurs, try to change the chip or change the motherboard.

7 short audio beep
– Change the processor

8 short audio beep
– Video chip doesn’t work

1 long audio beep and 3 short audio beep
– Memory problem
