In the last article I wrote about how to install programs that work in Windows XP mode. We can say that this article is the continuation of the last article, and in this article we describe how you can download and install Windows XP Mode.

How to download and install Windows XP Mode

Step 1: Go to Start, All Programs, click Windows Virtual PC, and then click Windows XP Mode;

Step 2: In the Windows XP Mode dialog box, click Download to go back to the Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC webpage;

Step 3: In the Windows 7 system type drop-down list, click 32-bit or 64-bit depending on what version of Windows 7 you’re currently running. In the Windows XP Mode language drop-down list, click the language you want to use, and then click Download Windows XP Mode;

Step 4: Click Open to install the program immediately; or click Save to save the installation file to your computer, and then double-click the file;

Step 5: In the Welcome to Setup for Windows XP Mode dialog box, click Next;

Step 6: Choose the location for the virtual hard disk file that Windows XP Mode uses, or accept the default location, and then click Next;

Step 7: On the Setup Completed screen, select the Launch Windows XP Mode check box, and then click Finish;

Step 8: If you accept the license terms, click I accept the license terms, and then click Next;

Step 9: On the Installation folder and credentials page, accept the default location where Windows XP Mode files will be stored, or enter a new location;

Step 10: Enter a password, enter it again to confirm it, and then click Next;

Step 11: On the Help protect your computer screen, choose whether you want to protect your computer by turning on automatic updates, and then click Start Setup;

After setup is complete, Windows XP Mode opens in a separate window.

Some programs that you want to install on Windows 7 was not compatible with the latter. In this situation you will only have to install programs in Windows XP mode.

Hopefully Windows 7 allows a certain program installed in Windows XP mode, this is very useful for many users, especially for users who want to aibe programs installed on their computers which unfortunately are not compatible with Windows 7.

Steps to install a program in Windows XP mode

Step 1: Go to Start, click All Programs, click Windows Virtual PC, and then click Windows XP Mode;

Step 2: In Windows XP Mode, insert the program’s installation disc into your computer’s CD/DVD drive; or browse to the program’s installation file, open the file, and follow the instructions to install the program;

Step 3: Click the Close button at the top of the Windows XP Mode window;

Step 4: In Windows 7, click the Start button, click Windows Virtual PC, click Windows XP Mode Applications, and then click the program you want to open;

At each viewing of a site that you do, in your computers are stored data on these sites, data such as a local copy of the site, a copy that is made in the temporary file.

Considering that the size of the files increases with time browsing, the more temporary file size is greater the more likely to have trouble opening web pages. A good solution which is to avoid such problems is to delete at a certain period of time the temporary file.

If you’re saving your system images in a network location, you can only keep the most current system image for each computer. System images are saved in the format of drive\WindowsImageBackup\computer name\. If you have an existing system image for a computer and are creating a new one for the same computer, the new system image will overwrite the existing one. If you want to keep the existing system image, you can copy it to a different location before creating the new system image by following these steps:

Step 1. Navigate to the location of the system image;

Step 2. Copy the WindowsImageBackup folder to a new location;

Step 1: Open Internet Explorer;

Step 2: Go to http://www.java.com/en/;

Step 3: Click on the blue button Free Java Download;

Step 4: If a yellow Information bar appears (warning you that the website requires an ActiveX control or add-on from Sun Microsystems), click the yellow bar and then click Install ActiveX Control or Install Add-on. When a Security Warning dialog box appears, click Install;

Step 5: In the Welcome dialog box, click the View License Agreement button to read about the agreement, and then click Accept if you want to install Java;

Step 6: When you see the successful completion dialog box, click Finish. Java does not require any additional settings or restarts;
