Fix “Error 1327. Invalid Drive: Drive” error

This error messages appear when you try to install Office 2000 and the messages occurs if a registry key contains an incorrect value in a Data field.
To fix this error you should enter the correct value data for the registry key.
To fix the problem you should modify the registry, and serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Hot to fix “Error 1327. Invalid Drive: Drive” error

Step 1: Go to Start -> Run, type regedit in the open box and then press Enter;
Step 2: In Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders;

Step 3: In the right pane, note the values in the Data field of each entry. If any value contains a drive that is not correct for your computer, right-click the entry, type c:\my documents in the Value data box, and then click OK;
Step 4: Repeat step 4 for each entry whose Data value contains an incorrect drive;
Step 5: Repeat steps 3 through 5 for each of the following registry keys:

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Step 6: Close Registry Editor;
Step 7: Install Office 2000;

It’s possible that an error messages to appear when you try to open an e-mail messages that you saved in Outlook 2007, and the error messages is:

“The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.”

This error message appears because the e-mail message that you are trying to read is encoded in Unicode format. Unicode format is a computing industry standard allowing computers to consistently represent and manipulate text expressed in most of the world’s writing systems.
To read your email without any problem, when you save the e-mail messages in your Outlook, use a non-Unicode format.

To do this, follow these steps:
Step 1: In Outlook, click the e-mail message that you want to save;
Step 2: Go to File menu and then click on Save As;
Step 3: In the Save in box, click the location where you want to save the file;
Step 4: In the File name box, type a name for the file;
Step 5: In the Save as type box, click any file type except Outlook Message Format – Unicode, and then click Save;

How to restore the default setting for Microsoft Office Word

In this article I will describe how you can restore default settings for Microsoft Office Word.

1. Go to Start -> Run and in Run dialog box type regedit.
2. Click OK button. The Registry Editor screen should be appear.

o If you are using Word 97, select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office/8.0/Word key.
o If you are using Word 2000, select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office/9.0/Word key.
o If you are using Word 2002, select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office/10.0/Word key.
o If you are using Word 2003, select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office/11.0/Word key.
o If you are using Word 2007, select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office/12.0/Word key.

3. Press the Delete key. You are asked if you want to really delete they key.
4. Click on Yes button to delete the selected key.
5. Close the Registry Editor screen.
6. Restart Word.

Word has been reset to default settings.
